Topic: Announcing Wiki Books

Introduction

Some of you may have already seen them, but I'd like to announce them formally here.

Our wiki allows a user to export the wiki page to an Open Office document in ODT format. We have used this feature to setup "books" in the wiki.

What is a Wiki Book?

Simply put it is a single wiki page which uses a function of the wiki to link to/include from (the content) other wiki pages. This means a wiki book creator doesn't create the content, he/she just links to the content of another "normal" wiki page.
(to see an example, view the source of the administration book)

Since wiki books are essentially collections of links to/includes from other wiki pages, the wiki books will be updated whenever the original wiki pages are updated.

Where can I find Wiki Books?

So far, we've created three Wiki Books which you can find on http://www.wolfcms.org/wiki/books:start

Will there be translated Wiki Books?

Short answer: maybe.

Longer answer: maybe, we simply haven't tried creating them. In principal it could be done by creating a translated version of the Wiki Book that links to/includes from language specific versions of wiki pages.

Thanks

Thanks go out to everyone who has contributed to the wiki so far, with a special thanks to David.

Sincerely Martijn.
