Topic: New site feature: Plugin Repository

For the full story, please see the blog post.

You can leave comments / corrections for plugin entries in this forum.

First small improvement:

I just added linked tags. When you view a plugin's details, you'll see the tags are linked. When you click the link, it displays only the plugins that have that tag. smile

Another improvement: you can now use the default "icon view" (for lack of a better name) or a "list view".

Also, a search box was added that will accept a single tag so you can search by tag. Try to search for a tag like: "core" or "image". smile

Update November 11th, 2010 - Plugin maintainers that are not yet recognized by the system as the maintainer can now "claim" the plugin's maintainership. To do so, login and go the your plugin in the plugin repository. Now click "claim".

Also new... Plugin maintainers can now alter a few basic information items for their plugins.

Update January 27th, 2011 - For those of you who've not noticed it yet... I've recently added an "All releases" screen for plugins. See for example my account plugin.

This lists all releases that are known to the system including their download urls.

If you happen to be the maintainer of a plugin, each release will also be accompanied by an "edit" and "delete" icon. An "add release" function will be added in the near future.

Apart from this, there is now also the possibility for community members to add a new plugin! How to do this? Simply click the green plus icon in the repository overview or go to your "My account" page and select the "Add plugin" action from the menu.

Hope you like it! smile

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

Nice way for a overview, very usefull.
Just one question: where all plugins tested to work on the current stable Wolf?

No. I made a guesstimate as to which plugins would work. Basically if the author claims it works, I added it. The overview is probably incomplete and one or two of the plugins might not work despite claims.

One of the features I want to add is a "compatibility chart". That way, the author will be able to state in the repository with what versions of Wolf CMS a plugin release is compatible.

For now though, I felt it was important to at least get it online. smile

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

Great work, I've already found one new useful plugin that I had no idea existed. smile

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

It'd be nice to see more plugins per page. My preference would be at least 12. Otherwise, great work!

My Redirector plugin seems to have disappeared from the collection. You can find the details here:
http://themes.designspike.ca/redirector/

Edit by mvdkleijn: I just added it to the repository.

I'll be adding an optional "table view" which will list way more plugins at once. Sort of like Windows file explorer's "icon view" vs. "list view".

I think, page with plugin must have link to his forum topic

It does now! wink (See the "Discuss" link among the bulleted links on the left-hand side under "Actions".)

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

I think I'd still like to see more per page in "icon view". Can you imagine having to page through 150 plugins 6 at a time? 9 or 12 items per page wouldn't be overwhelming and would reduce the amount of paging by quite a bit.

I'm really digging this. Nice work guys!

Edit: Oops, looks like you're already planning my second suggestion so I removed it.

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

Nice feature Martijn smile
Is there any plan to add an "Approved by developer etc." button ?

Not entirely sure what you mean by that?

A couple of things I'm still planning:

- Compatibility with Wolf CMS indications
- Putting the repo plugin on github once its been cleaned up a bit

I mean, something to "notify" user wether the plugin has been "tested or approved" by the developer. Take a look at this "repo". They have something to inform the user that the plugin/addon has been Approved by the team.

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

Ah right! I wasn't planning to. Vetting plugins takes a lot of time which is in short supply. Maybe once we're near or on 1.0 of Wolf CMS, we'll start doing that but not in the immediate future.

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

What is the "Unpublish listing" do ?

Re: New site feature: Plugin Repository

It merely removes the plugin from the public list. You can use that if you decide the plugin is unstable and unsuitable for use for example. Its an on/off switch.

Probably it was! Removed from repo and banned from forum due to unpractical "joke".

P.S. Damn spammers!
