hello!
i've recently discovered wolf cms project and decided to move my sites from frog to wolf.
the problem is that i'm using a lot of extended self-written plugins and i had to rewrite some code in core frog files such as Framework.php, /app/main.php etc., to make them work.
and the question is: is wolf's last version core structure close to frog's one so it won't take me long to rewrite same parts of code in wolf's files?
mostly rewrites r made to realise some kind of multisiting (i have several domens linked to one hosting where i have my frog installed, i added field 'object_id' to 'frog_page' table, so i could keep page structure of different sites in one DB and cms chooses which site to display via domen name that is currently requested).

My ideas:

1. Paste each article into the WolfCMS admin console, set the publish date, slug, breadcrumb and description by hand.

2. Use the Backup/Restore plugin to automate this (do you think it's worth it for 70 articles?)

3. Ask the experts on the WolfCMS forum for a better idea!

Which is where you come in...

I am coming from Frog CMS, which I love, it seems to be at a stand-still though, so this project could be really cool to continue the legacy.

I could not find Wolf 0.5 which they suggested to use for migrating, so i just downloaded the latest version and did it manually. But i have a few large sites that i really need to migrate otherwise it will take forever!

Anyone know where the download link to the Frog migrate version is?

Cheers!

Hi all

I've stumbled upon Wolf CMS a few days ago and I like the over all feel of it. I've used Joomla and WordPress (how exiting ;)) in the past and I'm thinking about doing my current project using wolf.

I have to admit that I havent installed Wolf yet but I just wanted to get some info before hand to see if I should give it a go.

I'm working on a simple project which has one important aspect.

There is a portfolio page that needs to have a nice gallery and a list of items on a div to the right of the gallery. by clicking on each of the items, a series of images related to that item will load into the gallery.

I want to be able to first of all have a nice gallery and second be able to add (and delete) new items to this list and uploaded appropriate images for the new items.

I was wondering if its something that can be accomplished through Wolf or should I stick with platforms that I already know.

I would be ok with using a Jquery gallery or anything similar to those

Thanks for your thoughts and input

Hi,

I'm running a site on Frog 0.9.5 and I'm considering a move to Wolf as the project seems to be more active, but I'm after some advice before I do.

At the moment I run the site off one of my own computers, but I'd like to move to a professional host -- can anyone recommend a Wolf-friendly host, or know who to avoid?

Would the best approach be to install a new version of Wolf on the new host and port the data across from my MySQL database, or would it be better to set up the Frog and follow the upgrade instructions? If it makes any difference to the advice, there are ~1700 pages in the CMS. The plugins I'm using are Archive, Comments, File Manager, Markdown, Page not found, Textile -- I think the only one I added is Comments, and that's not crucial. I haven't changed any of the PHP.

Also, does Wolf have an extension for the admin interface to tile the child nodes in an archive so it only displays N pages at a time (if not, how difficult it would be to write one)? I have almost a thousand pages under one of my archives, so it's not great when it's expanded.

Thanks for any advice.

I have a few sites using FrogCMS but on my latest site I've taken the plunge to the Wolf (very excited). For some reason though, no matter which slug I hit I always see the homepage. I'm using the same htaccess as my Frog sites and this new site is on the same server.

This wouldn't make sense to me, but is there any reason the htaccess would need to change from Frog to Wolf?

I've verified that each page is using the correct layout and that I'm echoing $this->content().

Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

Hi there,

Been watching the Wolf CMS project with some interest for a while now, I would ideally like to think about migrating to your system, but there's one feature I need from Frog that I fear may hold me back.

I am still on Frog 0.9.4 so I would need to upgrade to 0.9.5 first, I am aware of this.

Basically I'm looking for a category feature that would allow me to group blog posts by one category only. At the moment I am using a modified tagger plugin to allow me to do this, but couldn't get the modifications to work with the 0.9.5 version of tagger (my php isn't brilliant).

Does a category plugin exist for Wolf CMS, or would I have to use Tagger as intended or abandon categories altogether? :(

Thanks guys and keep up the great work, I'm pleased to see the progress made in a few short months.

Hello hello,

I am about to migrate from FrogCMS to WolfCMS as Frog seems all about dead and Wolf seems to have more promise.

Anyway, I have a few technical questions about the migration as I've never done anything like this before and I certainly don't want to ruin my current clients site that I've recently designed and almost completed. So i want to keep everything as is... the current content in layouts, snippets and pages etc... So far i think this is possible from reading your wiki.

Anyway, in regards to the first step:

"First

Make a backup of your entire database.
Make a backup of your entire Frog installation's directory."

How do i go about each part here? If possible put in Laymans terms so I don't go cocking anything up.

thanks for any help

Very nice CMS

Hi there!

First, I'd like to say that this cms looks very promising, it has a lot of good points:
-- one file framework
-- lightweight core and features as plugins
-- clear MVC structure
-- jquery as the javascript framework
Hope you the best with this fork!

Before I install it to test, I have a few questions:
-- does it support nice urls like:
    http://www.domain.tld/contact/
    http://www.domain.tld/products/screens/
    http://www.domain.tld/products/netbooks/
... and so on?
-- is it possible to add/remove/update what other CMSes call 'content elements' (Typo3, Typolight) or 'blocks' (Concrete5) on a page?
-- could we easily rename the admin folder? I prefer to have different admin url for each website I create.

Those three points are, in my opinion, necessary for modern CMSes.
Thank you for your replies, it will help me to have a better look at your project and to quickly see what I will be able to do with it when I'll begin to test it.
